Life Is Good

This is not a paid blog spot, but if you haven't seen this website, it's worth a look. The concept is terrific and the range of items is constantly expanding. Sometimes you just like to point out a good thing. Whenever life gets to be a bit much, just think happy thoughts. Life really is good. There is always something to cheer about, even if you have to think hard once in awhile.

For example, the dog ate Michael's dental work because the appliance fell out of his hankerchief when Michael had to blow his nose. Poor Mikey didn't notice that it fell to the floor. The dog did notice and it was history except for a few telltale fragments. That was $900 to replace and the dental insurance didn't cover even a dime of it. What is dental insurance for anyway? Well it is a tax deduction. Then the next week the central air went out again for the third time in five years. More joy! Then two weeks later I quit my day job because of continual harassment from this guy who thinks he's the office manager when he isn't. So now, I am looking for work with a room AC unit on and only enough money to make it to the end of this month.

But, life is good because I do have some hope of finding another job. I have time to tie up a bunch of loose ends around the house and I have more time for my favorite activities...blogging, knitting, making jewelry, and planning for the holidays.

So, buy a teeshirt and never forget that life is good.

Palm Tree

Found this lovely tree and had to take a pix.

I like the effect of the little birdhouse in the second tree.

Thought maybe I should tell you just in case it wasn't clear.

The little tree is actually casting a long shadow which is also neat.

There are quite a few different shades of green and of course the recurrent water theme.

I am an Aquarius, so that explains it well enough.

Monorail & Magic

I really like the monorail-sky connection here in this photo.

Space Mountain in space is a nice effect too. I'm one of the Disney nuts. It's just too much fun.

Why mess with other earthly pleasures when you can have magic?

Sunset Orlando

Took this shot a little too late in the evening. It's amazing how quickly the sun sets this time of year. The sky was still quite appealing, but I needed to zoom in on the horizon. I was standing on the 4th floor platform of Disney's Contemporary Resort. The silver sea in this photo on the left is the Seven Seas Lagoon. Had a lot of fun relaxing and soaking in the Disney magic.

Work

Does it seem like the workplace has changed over the last few years? It does to me. I have had a string of 'bad' supervisors. The ones that like to make your work life miserable by always finding some fault even if they have to make one up. A few examples:

1-The school where I was a Guidance Counselor had 4 principals in 4 years. The last principal decided to take the school in a new direction which did not include me. Two weeks before my scheduled exit date, she brings the school accountant to my office and tells him to watch me pack my things and escort me to my car. She called down half an hour later to find out what was taking so long. Seriously my only fault was helping students get into college and hand scheduling every student in the high school over the summer without any additional pay.

2-At my next job as a social worker, our agency went bankrupt, misappropriating state grant funds. My supervisor quit right before we went belly-up. A lady with a bachelors degree who had been there two months longer than I, was the only person to apply for the supervisor's position. So of course, they gave it to her. While I was gone to visit my daughter for a few days, she did an audit of 5 of my case management families' charts. The day I returned to work she pulled me into a surprise meeting with the agency supervisor and gave me 4 double-sided pages full of critiques on every part of each chart. That's 20 pages of blocks filled in concerning every type of entry possible. I had three days to fix everything she marked. I went back to my office and looked over her critiques. I pulled the charts and went line-by-line. Half of her remarks weren't even correct as I had no problem finding the information that was indeed in the chart.

There's more, but I'll spare you. What's the point of all this? Who gets giddy from antagonizing and lying about people and their work ethic? Trust me, I am not a goof-off. I put my heart and soul into everything I do. I just don't get it. How do these managers sleep at night with all that manipulation going on? They should be exhasuted from all their plotting and planning.

Shrimp Salad

Medium sized shrimp in mayo with celery and a hint of onion. Small pieces of lettuce and grape tomatoes. WOW! Food is so satisfying and at every level of your well being. Emotionally hyped, physically happy, and every sense was used in the eating process. It really doesn't get any better.

Weather 2

Went to the ocean today to take some photos. Waves were sizeable. Had to stand behind a big wooden post to avoid the pelting rain and wind. A few people were out enjoying the view. Not humid and very pleasant temperature combined with the squally weather conditions made it exceptional in every way. Like the pix?

Weather

It's starting. The weather's changing and it is most welcome. Looks like we may still have s few storms brewing in the Atlantic, but summer is history and so is the extreme heat.

You can always talk about the weather.
